The difference between the two is very simple: a portfolio is a hard copy stored in a file cabinet and a folder; an electronic or digital portfolio is stored online and you view it through the internet. One of the benefits of having it stored online is that you can access it whenever you want to. You can even give the url to a prospective employee or school and they can see your work at their convenience. It would seem old fashioned to bring in a a thick folder.
